This is a blog that i posted to another site a while back, I wanted to repost it here. It was originally posted by me back on March 28, 2011.
Last time I started my post with how I wanted to write but just could not do it. For want ever reason, I just could not come up with the creativity to do it. I had the ideas, but nothing was working for me.
However, that all changed a few days later. the past few weeks have been some great writing weeks. I got two chapters done! Woohooo...my goal was just to get one done and I got two written. Love it when the goals are met. Makes you feel good. It keeps the creativity flowing.
I also got a few other chapters in the second book started. I feel that they are off to a good start. The second book seems to be coming alive. This one will be full of heartache, friendships will end and of course new ones will be started and some will become stronger and a murderer will be exposed.
After two weeks of great writing and with the creativity flowing, I decided to take some time off work and devote to writing, cranking out more chapters and starting new ones. Well the nasty flu bug had other ideas. I got sick during my vacation.
At times I thought all was lost, too tired to write, my brain just did not want to work. I did find myself thinking about the different chapters and what I was going to do with some of the more problems ones. Do I keep them or let them go. It is kind of hard to let them go, I mean I had already started them and put in blood, sweat and tears, but they were just not going anywhere. I then realized that even though they were not going anywhere or I was struggling with them, they still had some good ideas in those sentences. So for now I will keep them, and who knows maybe somewhere they will be used or those chapters may came back to life.
As I lay there, in one of two place in my house, the sofa or my bed, I was coming in and out of consciousness. Between the naps I began to think about a piece that I had written. It was simply called Rain. It was one of those pieces that I had to write. Not sure if I can explain the reasoning for having to write it. The idea was there, and I just could not just let it go. When I wrote it, I was not sure if I was going to use it or not, but it was there, saved on the jump drive just waiting. Maybe it would be a piece that would be submitted to a writing contest, maybe i would change the names and used it else where. I never made up my mind on what to do with it.
Then it hit me! Not sure why it took so long, maybe it was just how it had to be. I have a use for Rain. I have to rewrite it, but that is ok. I still get to show what I wanted to show but this time with a good out come.
I learned something new these past few weeks. Just write. If you have an idea, put it down on paper or on your computer. Who knows you may use it, but if you don't, that's ok. I think there are times that you just need to got those words out on paper. So create!
Happy Writing
Barbara
Just a little footnote on Rain, it has been rewritten and it will be in the second book. I am just as happy with the rewrite of Rain as I am with the origianl version of Rain.
